More than four million Americans have bunions. Most bunions are painful because they're accompanied by bursitis and/or because they're so prominent that there's no way to avoid bumping and rubbing them. A bunion may also force your big toe to point inward and rub against the next toe, eventually causing the second toe to become a hammertoe Always stick to warm water when washing your face to diminish irritation. Too cold, and your pores constrict, trapping the very dirt and bacteria you are trying to wash away. If you use hot water, you are encouraging the possibility of irritation. Balmy water opens the pores but does not cause inflammation. Laser bunion surgery is a procedure aimed to help people get treated from this problem. Apart from surgery, there are other approaches that can help this problem even when people are at home. However, bunion problems can be simple problems especially if they're not causing any pain to people. Majority of these people especially women can feel an extreme pain People who feel minor pain need not to undergo the surgery procedure because of the fact that they can get several procedures done at home to help them solve this pain problem. Treatment options are based on the severity of the deformity and symptoms. Nonsurgical treatments usually are enough to relieve the pain and pressure on the big toe. Your doctor may tell you to start wearing roomy, comfortable shoes and use toe padding or a special corrective device that slips into your shoes to push the big toe back into its proper position. To help relieve pain, you can take over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen (Tylenol) or ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin and others). Whirlpool baths also may help to ease discomfort. Toe Separators – silicone toe separator between the big toe and second toe stops them from rubbing up against each other. Even with physical therapy, you can't slip into your same old shoes just yet. Avoid wearing high-heeled shoes until your doctor says it's OK-typically, you have to wait at least six months. Expect some swelling and discomfort in your foot for about six months, so wear comfortable shoes that won't irritate the foot as it heals. Your doctor can also prescribe medication to ease pain and inflammation in the foot as it heals and recovers. The praise comes from on high with a holy trinity of endorsements. Newsweek voted them "must-have item of the summer" in 2007, The Independent newspaper hailed them as "miraculous", and Oprah Winfrey wears them. A recent study by researchers in Australia studied 151 patients presenting oestoarthritis (OA) in the metatarsophangeal joints MTP joint looking to see if certain factors including BMI (body mass index) age, gender and weight may be associated with the range of motion in their toes and the serverity of the oestoarthritis in flexibility of movement in their feet and big toe joint. Overall, I am pleased with my progress. Though I am a little concerned with the regression of progress on my left pinky toe. I'll take my concerns and questions to my doctor. Please share your thoughts, comments and questions regarding my experience correcting my bunions and hammertoes.
